Russia

Russian food is simple and hearty and packed with flavors - onion, herbs, mushrooms, garlic, cabbage, potato, stewed meats and tomato. Items commonly found on menus at Russian restaurants throughout the U.S. include baked fish, meat and vegetable dishes, savory meat pies, flavorful multi-ingredient soups such as borscht, and beef Stroganoff (chunks of beef in a sour cream sauce, served over noodles). Many restaurants also serve the pride of Russia, caviar, served atop delicate pancakes called blinis with a dollop of thick cream.
